Active Directory and Lotus Domino syncronization free opensource solution, based on Tivoli Directory Integrator

Vladislav Tatarincev  31 July 2013 10:06:37
Hi, Lotus Community.
I am planing to publish free open source solution based on Tivoli Directory Integrator, which will integrate Lotus Domino and Active Directory.
That is , accounts created in AD (in russian language AD means HELL) and then in Domino changes happens automatically.
My Idea for this solution, anyone with basic _LOTUS_ admin/developer knowledge can take advantage of it.

I find TDI fantastic tool, but for those who worked a lot with Lotus, especially admins , Javascript things may be a bit complicated.
It is planned that solution will be 90% based on LotusScript, then I hope new niche for be found.

The idea is quite simple, dump all AD changes into a small temporary database called SuperProxy.
Then with LotusScript we process all changes in Domino.

So far my solution is able to
* Create New people  (supports Clustered mailservers)
* Modify People (basic attributes, phone, email)
* Rename via AdminP
* Delete People
* Support Domino ID Vault
* Cert.id or Certificate Authority
* Has plane looking dashboard (at least I think it looks like in a plane), and shows progress of sync, so you all ways know if everything is ok, or you are in trouble (no sync during last X hours)
* Group Creating
* Group Modification
* Group Deletion
* Configurable settings, for new users
* Advanced Activity Log (what has been done)
* Built-in LotusScript Error log (nobody wants to look in console for prints, right? ;)  )

Not sure if Group management in AD is good idea, but seems some people wish to do everything in AD.

It would be nice if people can share their requirements, like AD only management and they need only people sync, or groups only.
Or they use iNotes access, Directory Assistance to login with AD passwords in Domino iNotes, Traveler, etc?

This sounds great! I wish I could give you more requirements, but you picked out most of the big ones for me.

Can't wait to hear your next steps...

Great idea. I have a client who is AD everywhere except their sales team who run our notes based CRM.

They will love ths.

If you manage to implement the requirements you propose would be great. My requirement is AD and Domino integration in context of Notes Shared Login: password synchronization between the AD and the ID file stored in mailfile for iNotes and/or Traveler (with ID Vault). Would that be possible with your sollution?

We are currently in the process of developing a solution for exactly this, our requirements are similar to above with the aim of being able to attest application access via AD.

So group management via AD would be a bonus although I'm sceptical how that works in practise with delays/resource intensive etc.

End goal will be windows single sign on to applications with user/group data in sync with AD.

Hello Vlad

I read about your proposition about creating a solution for Microsoft AD (r) and Lotus Domino syncronization. I am trying to do this now.

Do you got it?

Can you tell me about your experience on that?

How about ADSync from Lotus?

I am using Domino 9 and Windows 2008 and 2003

Johannes

It's been more than a year now since the announcement, but nothing has been forthcoming.

Are you working for IBM by any chance?
