As you know IBM announced an ultra-lite client of web access. http://www-306.ibm.com/software/lotus/products/domino-web-access/ultralite/
It seems to be that enterprise customers will move to release 8.5 after 2-3 years, many customers are just upgraded from Release 5.x to 7.x, many of them are still on 6.x, so 8.5 is a far future for companies who need a stable environment.
So I decided to write my own Ultra-lite client. it is already working and in production.
Why it is actual problem? Our Company has a policy that we use only Lotus Notes, we don't have a POP3/IMAP enabled, because then crazy things starts to happen. Zoo or a clients, a real nightmare for admin.
so we have only Lotus Notes and Web Access.
Sometimes, when I am working on customer side I need access to my mail, to check what's happening in office. or when I wake up, I have to know do I have something important in my Inbox, so I should go to office, or I can go directly to a customer.
so, I have written an application, which gives you what you need. You have latest 20 (configurable value) of mails, subject and abstract of first 200 symbols from a body, as well you can see whether you have already replied/forwarded this email, as well, if mail has been marked as HIGH PRIORITY you will see it also here.
Page has configurable (you can turn this of) feature that page reload every 5-10 minutes, so new mails are depicted on a page.
Do you need a Symbian phone for this? the answer is NO.
You need any phone with a browser.
I am working on code clean up and security, as well on things that this options will be configurable, so I plan to post this application latest on the weekend.
Now it is a read mode, I plan to put DELETE from a view icon, so you can delete message from phone. as well some WRITE functionality, so you can Forward and write a reply.
It would be nice to know what Lotus user and admin think about this feature.
