User experience with ID VAULT

Vladislavs Tatarincevs  22 October 2008 15:41:00
In http://samurai.alise.lv/lotus.nsf/dx/step-by-step-instruction-how-to-enable-id-vault-in-domino-8.5-beta-2 I documented how to implement ID Vault,

From User point of VIEW this looks rather simple, When user logs in, he has a button "Forgotten password", we is prompted with the instructions configured during  ID VAULT Setup

In this message you can supply instructions for users, what to do, where to call, and where is the closest beer shop :)

Than Admin just lauches and an administrator, select from the Action Menu, RESET PASSWORD. and whether supply new password by phone, or sends by email, to this person's boss.

When Admin clicks RESET PASSWORD, user will be able to login with just provided password.

Wow, that's fast.

Erm ... not to be ungratefull, but I felt that there are a couple of things missing such as

1. User click forgot password and a Forgotten password Help Text Window appear. Then what ? Does user have to call the responsible party directly ?

What about for the case of user allowed to reset their own password like you said on your earlier post ?

2. Administrator have to reset password from the administrator client ? Can they do this from their notes client ? The reason I ask is because Administrator Client have an abundant feature that I don't want a delegated administrator to have access to. For example if we delegated this function to our helpdesk, I want them to be able to do only that, and nothing else.

3. On how to notify field there is two option. If choosing In Person then I assume that you have to manually place a call to said user to come to his place and gave him his new password.

If choosing by email to manager, how do Domino find who his manager is ?

Thanks for the information! Does the client have to be a certain version? For example, will this work with Notes 6.5 clients accessing a Domino 8.5 server?

Hi,

Client have to be 8.5 Beta 2 at least. because in lower clients, there is no such button designed, and password still located in your Local ID. so there is no SYNC with server ID VAULT.

concerning client, I _think_ you can do it from regular client, as this password reset is a agent in a Domino directory, so you can call this agent without Admin client.

Thanks for comments, it is a please to have a feedback, :)
